"A bouquet of his influences. The freedom of jazz, the fluidity of Baroque, and the soul of an oud player."
Based in Beirut, Joe Awwad is a jazz guitarist known for his rich musical vocabulary and adventurous spirit. One day you'll find him swinging through a straight-ahead jazz set; the next, weaving Arabic taqaseem into his guitar lines with the soul of an oud player.
His sound bridges African rhythms, classical textures, and jazz improvisation. A musical crossroads that's taken him to stages across Europe and the Middle East, from Festival d'Aix-en-Provence to FIMU.
His journey is as dynamic as his playing: rooted in tradition, reaching for new expressions. Beyond performing, Joe leads several projects including the trio Tanween (with flutist Nobuko Miyazaki) and The Moniquartet, and teaches guitar and music theory at music schools in Beirut.
Joe posts every show, every week, on Instagram.
